The Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with a constant aperture, image stabilization and autofocus. The four-stop image stabilization detects normal shooting and panning movements, selecting the appropriate stabilization mode. The ring-type ultrasonic motor provides fast, nearly silent autofocus, with manual adjustment available without switching out of AF mode. The 9-blade circular aperture creates smooth bokeh in out-of-focus areas.

The lens is resistant to dust and moisture. Fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements help prevent dust and water droplets from adhering, while the non-rotating front element makes it easier to use filters.
