"The Shadow with the Suspenders," the new poetry collection by Dionysis Karatzas, consists of eighteen poems and seven invocations in memory that form the thunderous epilogue of the book. It is a composition that elevates water to a mystical element that accompanies the poet's footsteps between vowels and consonants, syllables and words, symbols and signs.
The sea that lightens existence from the body. The binder of waters testing freedom and the transparent memory of rain are just some of the fragments that compose the dreamy journey through the emotions of Dionysis Karatzas's new poetry collection.
THE SHADOW WITH THE SUSPENDERS
As the dawn breaks,
he leaves his body in the sea,
wears suspenders in his shadow
and wanders through the city streets.
Many follow him into a difficult self.
Others believe he's their own
and some see him as an uninvited stranger.
As evening falls,
everyone returns home alone
and the shadow with the suspenders enters its body
and lies down in the sea.
He is the lord of waters,
the omnipresent and all-encompassing.
