Description

The Unredeemed is the second standalone book of George Romanos' Trilogy with the common subtitle, "The True History of the 'National Schism'." For this significant work in terms of scope, the extensive historical timeline from 1843 to 1923, and primarily the 635 international and Greek sources, the author worked for 15 years.

Among the sources are the ministries of foreign affairs of Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, the USA, the archives of the Vatican, the Greek Parliament, the National Library, the Eleftherios Venizelos Foundation, the Benaki Museum Library, and other institutions, a multitude of books, newspapers, magazines, personal diaries, and correspondence.

In the Trilogy, each event is exhaustively examined in depth within its international geopolitical parameters, thus providing even completely unknown historical details. Primarily, comparative reasoning based on irrefutable documents, which are marked in the text in italics, is presented, overturning the century-old black propaganda of the New Greek Governance.

An absolutely distinctive feature of this book, as well as the entire Trilogy, is that the author makes historical events, the climate, the atmosphere, and the psychological portraits of the leaders crucial to our country, both Greek and foreign, vivid for the reader.

The bearer and protagonist of History is the Unredeemed, a real person with a modified name for obvious reasons, whose Historical Notebooks were preserved by his living descendants and reached the author.

Significant roles in the narrative are played by ordinary people with their weaknesses and passions, as they struggle not to be crushed by the millstones of "History" which is forged by the victors. All characters are structured based on the Homeric narrative style, with poetic clarity and brevity reminiscent of high literature.

The historical time in which the events of "The Unredeemed" take place begins where the previous book, "The Unsubmissive," left off in May 1916 and goes up to May 1917.
