Very tiring book. It covers a period of over 50 years of a family in Australia from the beginning of the 1900s onwards. Many characters, entangled, many descriptions of landscapes and buildings, confusing. While it spends many pages with detailed descriptions of an incident, suddenly months and years pass without it being clear how many. The emotions that the author wants to convey for each character ultimately remain superficial because there are too many characters and we cannot delve into any of them. I really struggled to finish it, I even ended up skipping pages with descriptions of battles and wars.
