Nice and medium to soft cushioning (the Peg 41 has an even softer one). Lightweight shoe for running, gym use, and everyday wear.

The color is not as vibrant as it may appear in the photo.

The size is true to size, the construction quality is very good, there is no discomfort while running, and there is sufficient space in the toe area. Let's say it meets the well-known standards set by this iconic Pegasus series. Before buying them, I was torn between these and the Vomero 17 (great feel and foot lockdown, softer cushioning due to ZoomX), but they were on sale and budget was a deciding factor.

The differences with the premium edition are negligible compared to the classic Pegasus 40.

Good shoes, comfortable, with one run per week and quite a bit of walking they lasted 1.5 years.

Description & Specifications

With a flexible fit for every run, the familiar, unique sensation that the Pegasus offers returns to help you achieve your goals. This version offers the same high responsiveness and neutral support you love, but with improved comfort in sensitive areas of the foot, such as the arch and toes.

Support: neutral

The more supportive the shoe, the greater stability it can offer to your natural stride. The combination of optimized support and cushioning at the right spots ensures a stable feel with every step. The Peg 40 has neutral support. It provides the balance you need, whether you land on the ground first with your heel or with the front part. It is also ideal for both long and short runs, as it ensures a smooth transition from heel to toe.

Cushioning: Medium

The more cushioning you have under your foot, the softer and more comfortable your running experience can be. Cushioning helps limit impact when your foot strikes the ground. Feel the ground contact thanks to Nike React technology, a lightweight yet durable foam that offers a comfortable, responsive stride. It maintains its shape on every run, providing you with a consistent feel.

Response: high

The higher the responsiveness the shoe offers, the greater the energy return you can enjoy with every step. Whether you want to run a little faster or with a little less effort, high-responsiveness shoes offer a slightly more elastic feel with every step, so you can get even more out of every run. Nike combined Nike React technology with two Zoom Air units (one in the forefoot and one in the heel) for an exceptionally elastic and dynamic feel during toe-off.

Perfect fit and feel

The single-layer mesh material has been specifically optimized to offer you a perfect feel and fit. The strap in the middle of the foot has been redesigned for a more adaptable fit to the foot, with a special shape for arches of all sizes.

What's new in the Peg 40?

When Nike began designing the Peg 40, they took a reverse approach, literally, starting with the application of a strip in the middle of the sole for a more stable, yet more comfortable feel, giving the impression that the Peg provides the arch of the foot with a welcoming, gentle embrace. Nike wanted the inner boundaries of the shoe to be comfortable, ventilated, and to offer a relaxed feel to the toes, arch, and heel, where the feet are most sensitive, with a specially designed circular pattern that allows the shoe to adapt to the shape of the foot.

Details:

  • The heel area is designed to optimize the contact area of the foot with the ground and improve transition and durability
  • The waffle pattern ensures road traction
  • An additional flexible groove provides a smooth feel when lifting the toes off the ground
