The Hoya Circular polarizing filter is a PL filter for photographic lenses with High-Rate Transparency (HRT) film, which allows more visible light to pass through while filtering the same amount of polarized light. It transmits up to 25% more light than a standard circular polarizing filter, providing approximately 1/3 stop more light. Its glass also absorbs ultraviolet radiation.
It is used to darken blue skies and reduce or eliminate reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as glass and water. Rotating the outer ring changes the effect, which is visible through the filter or the camera viewfinder.
