The olive tree has been known since ancient times and likely originates from the region of the Eastern Mediterranean. The Greeks were the first people to cultivate the olive tree in the European Mediterranean area. It is a long-lived evergreen tree that can reach a height of up to 10 meters.

The leaves of the olive are used in traditional medicine for the following properties:

  • Hypoglycemic

Modern pharmacological studies have shown the cholesterol-lowering, vasodilatory, hypotensive, and antimicrobial effects of olive leaves. They help reduce blood pressure and contribute to the good condition of the circulatory system.

They can be used for:

  • Against cystitis
  • Against rheumatism
  • Against arthritis
  • Reducing blood sugar levels

An infusion made from the bark of young olive branches is useful against diabetes and has antipyretic properties.
