It belongs to the very important appellations of Italy. The area is delineated by the vineyards around the communities of Neive, Treiso, and the vineyards on the hills around the city of Alba.
- Recognized as D.O.C. in 1966 and upgraded to D.O.C.G. in 1980.
- Ripening requires at least two years of aging, one of which must be in a barrel.
- The Nebbiolo variety is exclusively used in production.
A fairly soft and mild wine, with hints of orange peel that, along with the subtle earthy character, form its distinctive taste elements.
