The Cistus (Cistus creticus) is a small, woody shrub native to Greece. It has opposite, oval leaves with sparse hairs and red flowers. It is a very common plant in Greece, aromatic, also known as labdanum, ladanum, mild gum tree, and other names. The leaves and stems exude a resinous substance in June and July, which is considered medicinal (astringent, decongestant, antispasmodic, expectorant, soothing).
Cistus tea is considered three times healthier than green tea as it helps alleviate various conditions. It relieves stomach and intestinal issues and acts against obesity. It protects the heart and is antioxidant, effectively boosting the immune system.
Preparation of the beverage:
