Robert Mondavi founded his namesake winery in 1966 with the vision to create Napa Valley wines. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from the vineyards of California's Central Coast. At optimal ripeness, the grapes are harvested and immediately transported to the winery. There, the berries are pressed whole.
The must is divided after pressing:
- 30% is fermented in the barrel.
- the remaining 70% is fermented in a stainless steel tank.
After fermentation, this white wine ages for 10 months in French and American oak barrels. Blending before bottling.
