Hops (Humulus Lupulus) is a climbing plant that spreads in the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The female flowers of the plant are used. In herbal therapy, Hops are used to address disorders of the nervous and digestive systems, including anorexia.
Research shows that the consumption of Hops affects the central nervous system. Effective in combating anxiety, tension, nervousness, and insomnia, it is believed to have strong sedative and hypnotic properties. Additionally, Hops possess antibiotic properties, as the substances it contains (isohumulone and humulinic acid) promote the fight against bacteria.
- To prepare a beverage, add 1-2 teaspoons of the dried flowers to a cup of boiled water (3 times a day).
- If combining Hops with Valerian (insomnia), prepare a drink (1 teaspoon of each herb) one hour before going to sleep.
