This hood is designed for use with built-in or interchangeable zoom SLR lenses that have specific filter threads. It is optimized to provide coverage for lenses that have a wide-angle or telephoto zoom. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted side light from entering the lens, extending and shading the edge of the lens. Additionally, as the edge of the lens is extended, it provides extra protection from any accidental bumps.
