P.G.I. Avdira Thrace.
In Thrace, next to the Thracian Sea, lies Avdira. In the hilly areas of the region, viticulture has been practiced since ancient times. In 1999, the family of Nikos and Flora Vourvoukeli, with a vision to revive the famous vineyard of Avdira, planted 20 acres of native and foreign wine grape varieties on the fertile hills of the area. Gradually, a private vineyard of 120 acres was developed, cultivated according to organic farming principles.
Pamidi is considered one of the oldest varieties of Thrace. A rosy and aromatic grape that produced the famous “Pamiti wine”, a paraphrase of the ancient "Pan methi". It is speculated that Odysseus intoxicated the Cyclops Polyphemus with Pamiti wine.
