The GP2Y0A41SK0F is an analog short-range distance sensor from Sharp. The detection range varies from 4 cm to 30 cm (1.5″ to 12″). The shorter range offers higher measurement resolution, while the lower minimum detection distance makes it ideal for detecting very close objects. The distance is indicated by an analog voltage, making the sensor very easy to use.
Sharp distance sensors are a popular choice for many projects requiring precise distance measurements. This IR sensor is more economical than ultrasonic distances but offers much better performance than other IR alternatives. The interface with most microcontrollers is simple: the single analog output can be connected to an analog-to-digital converter for distance measurements, or the output can be connected to a comparator for threshold detection.
The detection range of this version approximately varies from 4 cm to 30 cm (1.5″ to 12″). The GP2Y0A41SK0F uses a 3-pin JST connector that works with our 3-pin JST wires for Sharp distance sensors (not included). It is also easy to solder three wires to the sensor where the pins of the connector are placed. When looking from the back, the three connections from left to right are: voltage, ground, and output signal.
This product replaces the original GP2D120XJ00F. The newer GP2Y0A41SK0F has a much higher update rate and much lower average power consumption than the older GP2D120, but is otherwise identical to the GP2D120 and can be used as a direct replacement for these modules.
