Usurper is the sequel to Shrouded in Sanity, but knowledge of the first game is not necessary, as it is the second part of the Skautfold game series. Usurper is a Metroidvania Action-RPG. With Eldritch horrors unleashed from the alien Citadel, your mission is to rid London of its terrors. Use the new "Guard" system that rewards skillful play and precision, to uncover the massive structure and defeat the nightmares lurking within.

The combat system of Usurper is built around the "Guard"; a system that allows the player to parry attacks and take risks, rewarding precise timing and risk assessment. Instead of immediately losing health when hit, players will lose "Guard points" (which function like a regenerating shield). When these are depleted, the player will take normal damage. However, if the player precisely dodges incoming attacks, they will convert a large portion of the attack's damage into "Guard points," allowing you to turn the tide of battle and gain the upper hand. This is a system that will allow anyone to get into the game, while still offering a high skill ceiling for players seeking a challenge.
