The Nikon Monarch HG binoculars offer 8x magnification and a wide field of view, with sharp edge-to-edge viewing thanks to the field flattener lens system. ED glass corrects chromatic aberration for high-contrast, high-resolution images with natural colour fidelity. The lenses and prisms have multilayer coatings, while the roof prism features a highly reflective dielectric multilayer coating.

The magnesium alloy body is lightweight and durable. The binoculars are waterproof to a depth of 5 m for 10 minutes and filled with nitrogen to prevent internal fogging at altitudes of up to 5,000 m. The turn-and-slide rubber eyecups adjust to the distance from the eyes, while the dioptre adjustment ring has a locking system. The objective lens caps are integrated. An optional adapter is available for tripod mounting.
