The only negative is that the joint is not as tight as I would like, which, in combination with the strong magnet holding the phone, causes the joint to move and change position every time you want to remove the phone to use it. You constantly need to readjust the angle and viewing position of the phone every time you place it back on the base. If the above doesn't bother someone, then it is a very good base at a reasonable price.
