Description

Description

The Seasonic PRIME TX 3.0 Series builds on all the excellent features of the PRIME TX platform with added ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compatibility. Currently, the 1600W and 1300W units are equipped with native 12VHPWR connectors, digital fan control, and Japanese 105°C rated electrolytic capacitors that ensure unwavering power supply and long-term durability. All these properties make these power supplies ideal for accommodating the latest high-power graphics cards and processors on the market.

80 Plus Titanium

The PRIME Titanium Series achieves the highest level of 80 PLUS® Titanium certification on the market with 94% efficiency at 50% system load.

ATX 3.0 Cable and 16-pin PCIE GEN 5 (12VHPWR)

The latest PRIME ATX 3.0 series from Seasonic is designed and manufactured to power new PC components that require the new ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 standards.

Lower Load Regulation Tolerance

The latest design from Seasonic keeps the output voltage within a very narrow range, achieving load regulation below 0.5%. This impressive electrical performance and stability make this power supply an ideal choice for high-performance systems.

Digital Hybrid Fan Control

Seasonic's vast experience in designing the quietest and most efficient power supplies on the market has translated into the development of Hybrid Mode, a state-of-the-art digital fan control that allows users to keep overall fan noise at the lowest possible level.

Note: The digital hybrid fan control diagram is provided for reference purposes only. The shape of the curve may appear different due to the variability of ambient temperature, system configuration, airflow, and other unforeseen factors.

Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan

High-performance Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to take advantage of the oil's shock absorption effects. They are extremely reliable and produce significantly less operational noise and heat compared to ball bearing fans. Lubrication of the bearing surface reduces friction and vibration, thereby reducing overall power consumption. Due to the effortless, quieter rotations and robust construction, this reliable fan technology also significantly increases the fan's lifespan.

How it works

When the fan shaft rotates, high-pressure oil is transported along the grooves of the bearing sleeve to create a thin layer of lubrication between the bearing surfaces. As speed increases, the dynamic oil pressure also increases, and the shaft lifts off the bearing to create smooth, effortless rotations. The herringbone shape of the grooves helps to efficiently channel the lubricant and prevent leakage.

Cable-free connection design

The engineers at Seasonic implemented a new design feature where instead of cables, the back and the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) are connected with a copper plate. This innovative solution not only reduces the likelihood of production errors during manual placement but also improves the quality of the power output.

Features:

  • ATX 3.0 cable and 16-pin PCIe 5.0 (12VHPWR)
  • 80 PLUS® Titanium certification
  • Cybenetics ETA Titanium and Lambda A
  • Top-quality 135 mm fan with fluid dynamic bearing
  • Digital hybrid fan control
  • Tight voltage regulation (12 V, 5 V, and 3.3 V) [± 3 %]
  • High-current gold-plated terminal (MB, CPU, and PCIe)

Recommended Installation of the 12VHPWR Cable

  • All plugs must be inserted, locked, and positioned correctly.
  • Do not bend or apply force to the cable after it has been placed in position.

This review is about the power: 1300 W

When you upgrade your existing PC and go for an ultra-powerful high-end RTX 5080, you also need a good and reliable power supply. For my system, this one is a huge overkill (I was looking for a 1000W but couldn't find one available). SEASONIC is considered one of the top, if not the best, companies in power supplies, in terms of reliability and performance, and I decided not to spare any expense for the safety of my system. (You know how electricity is in Greece, especially during bad weather). This particular one has a 12-year warranty.

Personal advice to everyone: DO NOT buy a low-quality power supply just because you are on a specific budget and need to cut costs somewhere. Cut costs elsewhere, but don't spare a single euro when buying a good power supply, pay even more if needed.

If anyone is interested, my specs are as follows:
    - MOBO: MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS
    - CPU: RYZEN 7 3800X
    - RAM: G.SKILL TRIDENT DDR4 3600MHZ 48GB 4XDIMMS
    - GPU: MSI RTX 5080 SHADOW 16GB 3X OC
    - AIO: LIAN LI GALAHAND 2 LCD 360 BLACK (SIDE)
    - PC CASE: LIAN LI O11 VISION COMPACT BLACK
    - LIAN LI FANS WIRED x3 (DOWN) + WIRELESS REVERSE x2 (EXHAUST)
    - PSU: SEASONIC PRIME 1300W TITANIUM
    - STORAGE: 1xSSD nV.Me SN580X 1TB 1xGIGABYTE SSD 500GB 1xHDD WD 1TB

(BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING, I PREFERRED, INSTEAD OF SPENDING CRAZY MONEY TO GO FOR A BETTER SYSTEM WITH DDR5 RAM ETC., TO GET A BETTER GRAPHICS CARD AND I WOULD SUGGEST THE SAME TO YOU IF YOU WANT TO UPGRADE)

Well! Having been burned in the past in the search for a power supply (since I was unlucky enough to have one burn out on me, episodically), with the help of Cybenetics, who thoroughly test them (previously we had SPCR filling this gap), I ended up with this power supply.
For those who are not familiar with the brand, I encourage them to do a little research on who makes the most reliable power supplies. I emphasize "makes" because Seasonic is a manufacturer, while Corsair, for example, provides the design and has them made to their specifications.

It may be overkill for my system, which will never demand 1600 watts, but firstly, this power supply has excellent performance efficiency (reaching up to 94% from around 250 watts, roughly, and continues up to almost 1600), secondly, because my system doesn't draw even 1000 watts, it operates without even turning on its fan (since I have the hybrid mode button pressed and it only turns on when it reaches a certain temperature), and thirdly, even if I add a second 4080 super in the future, I will still be comfortable.

The cables it provides appear to be braided, but it is a technique engraved, let's say, on the cable casing. It comes with zip ties and "combs" to make the cables go where you want them exactly as you want. It also includes a 90-degree angle for the 24-pin motherboard connector.

Note: the only power supply I found to be 1% more efficient than this one, roughly, was the Corsair AX1600i, but it is not ATX 3.0 and it costs more.

    That's all from me.
