This review is about a variation of the product

I recently bought a mini all-in-one system (Kenwood - M-9000S-B), which had very good sound for most types of music, but was lacking in the performance of symphonic works, and thus "whetted my appetite" for something of higher quality. I ended up with the Yamaha R-N600A after months of research and an important factor, apart from its good reputation, was the multitude of connectivity options, internet radio, and the top-notch ESS DAC.
I should mention that I had previously purchased the Dali Spector 2 speakers, which "demanded" a better amplifier and the Yamaha RN600A met my expectations.
I found some things easy, such as connecting to my router, but I had a lot of trouble finding my favorite stations.

And here I will emphasize the screen information.
I expected something more, not just because of the Yamaha name, but also because we are in 2025, and let me explain:
    1. First of all, the text size on the screen is huge, barely fitting a long word and the information appears scrolling only once at the beginning and then remains static while the track is playing.
    2. In the process of finding stations, very often, it did not display the station name but dashed lines (photo), where I was forced, in order to find my stations, to endure a lot of audio garbage until I found them.
For stations with playlists, it displays the information separately (station, artist, track name, etc.) while it could display all the information scrolling (inevitable comparison with the half-priced Kenwood, which is from 2021) plus, in order to see the information I wanted, I had to press the special button on the amplifier itself to see them, while it could have been on the remote control.
I am not interested in color display but in the management and completeness of information on the screen (photo).
The same applies to information via USB, AirPlay, Bluetooth, etc.
A Douk Audio U2 USB Converter and a Toslink Cable 1m (KabelDirekt) were also purchased for connection with the Mac and for the connection to the speakers: Nakamichi Ultimate Series 24K Gold Plated Beryllium Red Copper Banana.
Sometimes there was a problem with the USB, when I changed the audio source, it did not recognize the USB stick and I had to remove and reinsert it, and it would play the list from the beginning, not from where it last stopped.
The sound is indeed very high quality and it was a real upgrade.
The MusicCast app is good, but you can't keep referring to it every time to see the basic information you need, it should appear on the screen.

    Negatives:
    1. Outdated information screen with problematic display and very large text.
    2. Occasional problem with USB.

    Positives:
    1. Plurality of connectivity options
    2. Quality sound
    3. USB, AirPlay, Bluetooth, Internet radio

I deduct 2 stars because the negatives cause me a lot of irritation several times a day and do not do justice to this otherwise excellent receiver.

This review is about a variation of the product

The amplifier is flawless, I've had it for 2 days and I can't say much more, but as a first impression, it's perfect. I've connected 2 small 50W speakers and it's like I've changed speakers; I hear details in the songs that I didn't hear before with an amplifier of a similar category. It doesn't color the piece too much, especially in Greek alternative music, and it really highlights the singer's voice with crystal-clear highs and mids. It also has internet radio with global reception, and it features DAB+ digital radio. It has a lot of settings to customize it to your preference. Its remote control is excellent; it's not cheap like in all Yamaha products, so they wouldn't compromise on quality anywhere. For the first few days I've been listening to it, I personally really like what I hear, and I wonder where to place more serious speakers. It has great potential to push it to its limits

I don't want to say much. Today I received it and I am thrilled. I was eagerly waiting for it to arrive. It is the third one I have purchased, starting with the 202, then the 303. I generally like to upgrade and even though I am satisfied and a Yamaha enthusiast, you should know that as the products become more expensive, you understand a lot about quality in everything. This particular one is flawless in every aspect, even though I haven't used it enough, only a few hours. It's a new series from Yamaha, always reliable and high-quality. Buy it fearlessly, there is no competitor in its category. 05/02/24 The amplifier is top-notch. I didn't expect anything less.
