The Samyang 16mm T2.2 ED AS UMC CS VDSLR II lens is a fast, ultra-wide-angle lens with manual focus designed for cameras with CS / cropped APS-C / DX and MFT sensors. It is available for Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony A, Sony E, Canon M (EF-EOS M), Fuji / Fujifilm X, and Olympus / Panasonic Micro Four Thirds (MFT / M43) mounts.
The VDSLR version has been developed primarily for professional cinematography purposes. It features follow focus gears and an independent aperture, allowing the user to smoothly and quietly change focus and aperture during shooting.
The Samyang lens is intended to be measured in T-Stops instead of F-stops, expressing the actual light transmission, which is more accurate and is the standard in professional cinema lenses.
The lens features 13 elements in 11 groups, with 2 aspherical lenses, 1 Extra-low Dispersion (ED) element, and a hybrid aspherical lens. It includes Samyang's UMC Ultra Multi Coating, which ensures excellent light transmission while minimizing reflections and ghosting.
- The wide angle provides excellent image quality with low distortion, ideal for landscape and general photography.
- The filter diameter is 77mm, compatible with ND and polarizing lenses.
- Equipped with excessive pouches, lens caps, and petal-shaped lens hoods.
The Samyang 16mm lens is suitable for both professional and amateur photographers, offering 24mm performance on APS-C sensors and 32mm on Olympus and Panasonic MFT systems.
