Description

The Macmillan Collector's Library series is aimed at book lovers, offering beautiful editions of classic titles that have been loved over time. This edition contains the most important extracts from Marx's great work, selected and introduced by Hugh Griffith.

Karl Marx's "The Communist Manifesto," printed shortly before the French revolution of 1848, is his most accessible and famous work. In its powerful call to action, Marx develops his famous theory that class struggle is the true determining factor of historical change. In the next section of this volume is included the treatise "Wages, Price and Profit," written in 1865, which serves as an accessible introduction to the ideas Marx developed in "Capital," his masterful, multivolume analysis of how the industrial revolution radically changed the world. Although the old type of Marxism is now outdated, today's conflicts within capitalism are extremely intense and Marx's brilliant, painstaking writings remain incredibly relevant.
