Jeffrey Arnett, a professor at Clark University in the USA, is well-known in the broader scientific community for introducing the term "emerging adulthood" as early as 2000. This term was proposed by him to describe the changes and challenges of the period following the completion of adolescence, at least biologically and cognitively (as the psychosocial end of adolescence should not be taken for granted at age 18).
However, what may be less known, perhaps due to the widespread discussion about the period of emerging adulthood, is that Arnett has been and remains a very significant scholar of adolescence, the developmental period during which developing individuals experience "suddenly" many significant changes in their bodies, in their daily lives, and generally in their lives, and which prepares them for the transition to youth and adulthood.
This work summarizes the findings of this very study. In fact, these findings are presented with particular emphasis on the cultural factor and its impact on the way adolescence is primarily experienced, but also understood.
