Description

Apart from endless hours at desks, apart from entire shelves of books, apart from dates and names, History is fortunately many other things: it is people who love and fight and dream, people who travel and learn and get excited, people who work, people who have curiosity and ambitions and passions and questions and... and... and... History is ultimately many stories. Stories that we live, stories that others have lived, stories that are vibrant, waiting for us only to listen to them. And here, in the place and language that gave birth to History, wonderful stories have unfolded. Stories told by War. Stories told by the Sea, the Light, the Market... Stories that began and do not end. Fortunately. Starting with the "Stories Told by War," this new series of "historical fairy tales" by author Maria Angelidou, attempts to cover a significant and long-lasting period of our history, antiquity, aspiring to convince young and old - especially the young! - that History is not just a lesson!

On the other side was the Persian army. Six hundred triremes packed full. Twenty thousand infantry. And a thousand cavalry. Men from all the tribes ruled by the Great King: pitch-black archers from Ethiopia, horsemen with wild horses from the steppes of Asia, dark-skinned swordsmen full of nerves and bones from India. Men who had nothing in common with each other, except their king. All of them did not even speak the same language. While the Athenians, to be honest, were all acquaintances, friends, relatives, neighbors! And in the battles of that time, that mattered a great deal, believe me. For men to stand side by side, shoulder to shoulder, and not run away. To kill, but not retreat. Not a step back.
