RowaPhos is an iron hydroxide specifically designed for the removal of phosphate salts, arsenic, and silicate salts from fresh and saltwater. It was created in Germany for the treatment of drinking water and should not be confused with natural materials based on aluminum oxide, such as zeolite.
It is manufactured using a patented process, making it naturally and chemically different from other iron-based products. Most of these products use iron oxide and have a higher phosphate ion absorption capacity compared to aluminum-based media, but they do not match the properties of RowaPhos.
In independent tests conducted by the Technical University of Berlin, RowaPhos was found to be the most effective in removing phosphates from water, compared to five other common products. Other media achieved only 30-40% of the removal capacity by weight. Furthermore, RowaPhos continues to remove phosphate salts even at lower concentrations.
