Coral Colors supplements are formulated so that the ratio of elements in each supplement is the same as that found in the skeleton and soft tissue of corals. Research has identified a stable ratio between each of the Coral Colors and the overall calcium consumption, which is proportional to the growth and metabolic activity of corals. This provides a simple and safe method, based on measured calcium intake, for dosing all color supplements.
Coral Colors A, B & C contain the main element (Iodine, Potassium, and Iron) that is precisely measured with Red Sea's unique Coral Colors Pro tests. For more advanced LPS (Large Polyp Stony) and SPS (Small Polyp Stony) aquariums, Coral Colors A, B & C can be dosed precisely, depending on the overall demand of the coral reef for these elements.
Coral Color A: A combination of halogens (Iodine, Bromine, and Fluorine). Halogens act as both antioxidants and oxidative agents within the soft tissue and mucous layer of corals, reducing the likelihood of coral bleaching. In active reef systems, these elements are quickly depleted due to their high oxidative abilities and reactivity with organic materials. Iodine and bromine are associated with the pink chromoprotein (pocciloporin).
