In this edition you will find, among other things, more than 40 tables, detailed photos of fruits, branches, leaves and flowers, as well as basic agricultural characteristics for 80 Greek olive varieties.
The olive tree (Olea europaea L.), a symbol of the Mediterranean, counts more than 600 varieties worldwide, of which about 100 are of Greek origin. This number is very large for the geographical area of Greece and is justified by the fact that Greece is considered a secondary center of origin, with a long tradition in olive cultivation.
In this book, agronomist George D. Kostelenos initially approaches the history of Greek olive varieties, from antiquity to the present day, and then describes, as analytically as possible, 80 Greek olive varieties, some of which are threatened with extinction.
Together with the book "Elements of Olive Cultivation", you will also receive the book for free:
"Dense linear olive cultivation". The book refers exclusively to the new mechanized method of cultivation, harvesting and pruning of the olive tree. (Publication: 2011. Pages: 68. Format: 21 X 29).
