Description

Volumes I/13-14 of the New Edition of Liszt contain dance pieces, marches, and scherzos. In the volumes, the titles are given as much as possible in chronological order. The works in volume 14 were composed over a span of 35 years, with the oldest written in 1849 and the most recent in 1885. Liszt wrote the Ungarischer Geschwindmarsch (Hungarian Quick March) in 1870 in Szekszárd, where he spent August to November, with small breaks. The footnotes, as well as the editorial comments, provide the performance indications noted by August Göllerich in 1884-86 when he was taking piano lessons from the composer.
