Among Haydn's extensive body of work, the piano sonatas are an inexhaustible treasure. With over 50 sonatas, these compositions occupy a significant part of his overall creation.
One of his greatest achievements is his ability to bridge different stylistic eras, both in his sonatas and in other musical forms, such as symphonies and string quartets, thus laying the foundations of the classical piano sonata.
Volume II includes three sets of six sonatas, which contributed to the dissemination of Haydn to the general public, either through printed editions or professional copies. These collections, dating back to the 1770s, contain some of his most well-known and beloved sonatas.
