“Fila Holdings Corp.” is a South Korean sportswear brand with Italian roots. It was founded in 1911 in Coggiola, near Biella, Italy, by Ettore and Giansevero Fila. Originally, it was known as “Giuseppe Regis and Figli di Coggiola.” FILA produced clothing for the residents of the Italian Alps, primarily underwear. In the 1970s, it shifted to sportswear and collaborated with tennis player Björn Borg, which boosted the brand's popularity. In 1991, Fila focused more on footwear in America and obtained licensing rights. It was supported by athletes like Grant Hill and Jerry Stackhouse. In 2003, FILA was sold to “Cerberus Capital Management.” In January 2007, the brand was acquired by “FILA Korea.” In October 2019, the South Korean boy band “BTS” became the global ambassador for Fila, increasing the brand's sales worldwide.
