Crossing is a particular term in migration research. Although it is often used in public discourse, it has not been sufficiently explored in practice, and in literature, it is always linked to specific countries and migration flows.

This book aims to fill this gap and contribute to the existing literature by investigating crossing both conceptually and empirically through the study of three Asian migrant groups in Greece: Afghans, Bangladeshis, and Pakistanis. The central theme explored is to what extent Greece is a transit or settlement country for the three groups.

By combining the theoretical framework with bibliographic and empirical research, the study seeks to bring to the forefront issues related to crossing itself and the connections that arise with migration flows, as well as with the countries that migrants traverse.

Crossing is examined not only in relation to the migrant but also in relation to Greece, and the factors—both individual and institutional—that shape it are presented within the context of European and national policies.

The presentation and analysis of primary research data, as well as the capturing of the migrants' own discourse, allows for an understanding of the complexity and usefulness of the term and its connection to Greece's position on the migration map.
