Description

The Frostpunk board game by Glass Canon Unplugged is a survival and economic strategy game set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a severe ice age. Players take on the leadership of a small colony of survivors, managing its infrastructure and inhabitants. The inhabitants voice demands and react according to the mood of society, while every decision has consequences.

The main points that make it stand out are:

    1. The atmosphere: it maintains 100% the feeling of survival in the frozen landscape, with the Generator literally being the center of the game.

    2. Co-op experience: each player takes on a leader role (e.g. Health, Generator, Politics, Society) and must cooperate to make tough decisions.

    3. Solo play: for me, its strongest point. It gives full control over all decisions—just like on PC. It is the most "pure" Frostpunk experience, because the atmosphere and the weight of the decisions become even more intense. Also, it has a strong narrative character and great replayability.

    4. Tough choices: the laws, explorations, and critical decisions are a direct reflection of the videogame.

Conclusion: One of the most thematic and atmospheric survival board games. If you liked the videogame, you will love its adaptation to the table. It shines especially in solo play, but also as a demanding co-op for groups who love a challenge.
