Description & Specifications

If I were to recount the events in a similar manner to others, I could introductory discuss some topics, as long as it was feasible, and then proceed with the continuation of my narrative; if I had identified a small scope of narration, I would have time to enjoy the fruit of the introductory observations.

However, since I promised that in a few books I would recount the events as comprehensively as I could, but also include a time span of more than one thousand one hundred years, it is necessary to set aside the extensive introductory observations and proceed to the events themselves, making only this preliminary remark: that in the previous six books I recorded the events from the Trojan War to the war the Athenians decided to wage against the Syracusans, which has elapsed seven hundred sixty-eight years since the fall of Troy.

In this book, continuing my narrative, I will start from the campaign against the Syracusans and conclude with the beginning of the second war of the Carthaginians against the 'tyrant' Dionysius of Syracuse.
