Description

Description

Modern humans are profoundly concerned with topics of self-knowledge, peace, balance, and love. What does the Orthodox hesychastic tradition say about all this? Through the sermons of the holy bishop, who listened to the deep emotions of thousands of souls in his flock, we receive the answers that lived faith in Christ provides.

Saint Gabriel, bishop of Imereti in Georgia, lived in the 19th century. He was well-educated, initially married with many children, was ordained as a priest, but then his wife and all his children passed away. At that point, he took a blessing and became a monk, later becoming the abbot of the monastery and was appointed bishop. Compassionate and without possessions, he traveled through his region giving sermons to simple and uneducated people, sometimes four sermons a day, moving from village to village, listening to their concerns and needs.

The texts were edited by the Holy Monastery of the Honorable Forerunner in Mesa Potamou, while the translation from Georgian to Modern Greek was done by the monk Malachias. An exceptionally aesthetic edition for the entire period of Great Lent, leading up to Easter.
