If Theatre is the place where the eternal example of myths is visualized, and Music is the way humanity converges towards the ineffable universal harmony, then Opera is perhaps the greatest conjunction of these two into a unique Art that aims to bridge the finite with the sublime and the true.
This was at least the perception of the great German composer Richard Wagner, who composed his works with the aim of initiating the art-loving public into the timeless and the archetypal.
The musical drama of Parsifal, perhaps the most important opera written after the famous Ring of the Nibelung, inspired by the medieval literature of Arthur and the philosophical quests of Wagner himself, depicts the hero's journey for the salvation of his soul, through the mysteries of the Holy Grail, which carries the power of reuniting the relationship of man with the divine.
The libretto of the epic opera is translated and introduced by Fotis Papathanasiou. The edition is accompanied by rare engravings and photographs from the era.
