    Predecessor of the ssl2+, I switched to the ssl12 due to the additional inputs. Compared to the ss2+, the sound is better and more detailed due to the 32-bit converter it has, and it also provides CV control for modular synths, which is a hidden feature that I discovered by reading the manual for those who have a modular synth. Additionally, the monitoring control section is extremely useful during recording, and finally, an on/off switch has been added, which was missing from the previous card. Overall, I think it is the best choice for a 4-input card under 500 euros in terms of preamplification, conversion, capabilities, construction, and latency, which, in any case, SSL has the lowest latency compared to cards up to 800 euros.

    I have had this specific sound card for almost a year now. In terms of preamplification and sound quality in general, it is flawless! Before this one, I had tried the Motu M4 for a few months. I must say that the sound of the Motu was cleaner, but the level of enjoyment that the SSL offers is what makes you want to use it! There are definitely better sound cards out there, maybe even at the same price, but this one is enjoyable and does what it needs to do during recording, making you forget about it!

    The only reason I deducted one star is because it consumes 8 watts in standby mode, just being on without doing anything. It doesn't turn off by itself after a while, and I consider this to be unnecessary power consumption.
