Description

Description

The custom of processions has been transferred and is still used today in Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox Christianity, where three processions related to the Trinity are performed.

The custom of the procession should be connected to the course of the Sun in the sky, from its rising to its setting, through the South. Even more so in Freemasonry, where the opening of the work indicates the solar orbit along with the orbits of the planets that follow it.

In Ancient Greece, during sacrifices, the priests and the people would walk three times around the altar. It was characteristic that during the procession the altar was always to the right of the priests and the people. The procession began from the East toward the South, then to the West, and from the North it reached the East, from where the next procession would start, until all three were completed.

This movement of the ancient Greek priests was called the movement from the right to the right. In Delos, the priests of Apollo would chant during the execution of the procession: We imitate the example of the Sun and follow its charitable course.
