Description

Description

Upgrade your computer with the Patriot SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM, increasing the execution speeds of all your processes.

DDR3

DDR3 is the third generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR2 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 800MT/s to 2133MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL4 to CL19, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Patriot SO-DIMM DDR3 provides speed at 1333MT/s, with CL9 and 4GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR3 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR3 is compatible with Intel 3rd & 4th Gen, Pentium, and Celeron processors, as well as AMD FX and Phenom II series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR3 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

Easy Installation

Installing RAM is a very easy process. After making sure that the computer is turned off and unplugged, you need to open the computer case, locate the motherboard slots, and properly place the RAM in its slot.

    TLDR: Get a different brand!
I bought a total of 3 from two different stores because it is one of the few memories still available (2023) and it is on the QVL of my old mobo (and for the record, other DDR3 with exactly the same characteristics (capacity, frequency, and timings) that were not on the QVL simply did not work). Out of the 3, only one worked, meaning that with the other 2 (even when installed alone), the PC did not even pass POST (meaning no BIOS, no Windows, nothing, just a black screen)! So we have 2 out of 3, which is 66.7% DOA, which is not a good percentage.... Although my sample is not large, there are other similar comments. The one that works has been working for about a month without any issues (let's see for how long). Overall, I never expected such terrible QA from a big and well-known company (assuming that the sellers are not responsible since memories from 2 different stores were tested), and personally, I will not buy memories that are not Kingston or Corsair again.

This review is about the total capacity: 8 GB

In a computer lab, we purchased 12 new sealed ones to upgrade HP Desktop branded PCs with Intel i3 from 2013, making sure they had the same specifications as the machines already had.

Out of the 12, 2 presented problems out-of-the-box. One of them was not even being detected (completely dead) and the other one gave BSOD (blue screens) after a short period of use and at random times. We tried different slots, inside and outside, and all the known solutions. Nothing changed. They were defective from the factory. We replaced these memory modules with the same Patriot ones (that work) and everything is fine (meaning the machines or their setup were not at fault).

So, a 17% failure rate (2 out of 12 = 16.6666%) when taken out of the box is not exactly a "good" percentage.

We hope the ones that are functioning don't fail on us soon. We are keeping the purchase receipt just in case.

Perfect!!! I have bought 2 (total 8 gb) and I have installed them with core 2 duo 8400, asrock g41c-gs r2.0, 600w psu, 500 gb hard disk and gainward nvidia 8800 gts graphics card (it recently broke and I am forced to use integrated) and windows 7 64 bit. After this upgrade, the pc flies!!! It has increased the life of my computer for another 10 years, I believe. I highly recommend them without reservation!!!
