The name HEMTT (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) refers to a series of eight-wheel drive heavy trucks, capable of off-road, produced since the mid-'80s for the United States Army. Thanks to its features, the HEMTT guarantees great off-road mobility and significant transport capacity. It has become the true "workhorse" of the army, capable of transporting ammunition and equipment very efficiently. In many conflicts, such as in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has often been modified by military workshops according to the specific requirements of the crews, in order to be increasingly effective in challenging operational environments. Additionally, some versions of the HEMTT have been modified to be used in escort and convoy protection duties. Additional protections and defensive weapons have been added.
