Perfect book, perfect meaning!! My little one is 3 and always hugs herself in her own arms. It has a meaning that we adults should remember too.

It was advertised by an influencer and I bought it. Besides the fact that the child was not interested at all, the images are unremarkable and do not convey anything substantial for him to remember. It was supposed to contribute to his learning and teach him that it is not necessary for everyone to hug him

First of all, the book is not a children's fairy tale. It "touches" on an important subject and does so in a way that can be understood by children, involving adults as well, both parents and everyone else, who in our attempt to express our love may overdo it.

What impressed us is that although the illustrations are not exactly "childish," our child, from the age of one and a half, asked us to read it to them, also focusing on the pictures. In our children's library we have more than 100 books, so there are plenty of choices, making this particular "obsession" even more remarkable.

While reading it, we vividly act out the gesture of saying "no" to hugs we don't want, and our child (who still doesn't speak) repeats the same gesture, either when something happens that they don't like (for example, when another child hit them at the playground) or when we correct them for something they shouldn't repeat. An important book that does not aim at entertainment, but at learning and teaching.

Very nice book about self-determination and the boundaries that anyone should have towards children. My only objection is at the point where it shows the parents' hug to their child. Where it says that it's nice etc. but very tight "hey guys, don't squeeze me so much" and the child's face has an expression where my child perceived it as sadness. I think it would have preferred a more simply drawn emotion to understand it. Other than that, quite good.
