Etnia Barcelona was founded in the 1950s by Fulgencio Ramo in Barcelona, Spain. Fulgencio established the first factory in the history of the company, which produced sunglasses and optical glasses. His children and the next generations managed to transform the one glasses manufacturing plant the company had at that time into a multinational that sold eyewear internationally throughout Spain.
In 1990, David Pellicer, the grandson of the company's founder, joined Etnia Barcelona and was the one who skyrocketed the company's reputation with his dreams and ambitious plans. David's main ideology was to bring color to the eyewear collections and to move away from the classic black and brown colors that dominated most eyewear brands and collections at that time.
David envisioned creating a brand that would focus around the idea of humanity and respect for all nationalities. Etnia Barcelona would express all ideologies, thoughts, and all kinds of people. Thus, Etnia Barcelona was born as we know it today.
