The effect can vary by changing the aperture of the lens. There are two HOYA Fog filters, Fog No 0.5 and Fog No 1, that can be used together to create an effect similar to thick fog.
The HOYA Fog No 0.5 filter uses special glass with a slit to achieve the effect. A piece of this glass is laminated along with a clear optical element, giving it a special sandwich structure that creates the fog effect. The soft effect of Fog No 0.5 enhances the bright areas in the image, making them appear as luminous objects.
