  • Maximum WLAN Speed

Theoretical maximum speed with one wirelessly connected device, mainly used for marketing purposes. The speed that each connected device will have depends on the distance, obstacles, how many other devices are connected, how many other networks exist in the same area, etc.

  • Frequency

The frequencies at which the Access Point can transmit.
    2. Additional frequencies allow for greater speed on more devices.

    Dual Band (2.4 & 5GHz)

They transmit signals on two frequencies. They offer higher speeds compared to single and connect more devices. The 2.4Ghz frequency is the most common and, as it has a large range, is usually congested by neighboring Wi-Fi signals, making communication between devices more difficult. The 5Ghz provides higher speeds than the 2.4Ghz but is more sensitive to obstacles (e.g. walls) that reduce its range. This difference, as well as its more limited use, helps to have fewer interferences from other networks.

  • Wi-Fi Generation

    Wi‑Fi 5

The most widespread Wi-Fi standard, significantly faster than Wi-Fi 4. Wi-Fi 5 can meet the needs of most users for now. The next generation (Wi-Fi 6) began to be released in 2019 and offers the ability to connect many more devices to accommodate the increasing number of smart devices in a home.

Each newer generation is compatible with devices that support a previous one.
