The new edition from Astbooks titled "Practical Handbook of Public Accounting" deals with issues concerning the accounting departments of public entities, the theoretical and practical problems faced by those serving in any position and under any employment relationship within the public accounting system.

The purpose of the book is to assist the reader in understanding topics related to the accounting units of public entities, especially in the accounting departments of public entities or those governed by public entities, as well as the Local Government Authorities (O.T.A.). It is aimed at readers with basic knowledge of accounting and seeks to guide and identify the differences between public accounting and private sector accounting.

Having experience in the private sector, it initially seemed strange to me because for years the public sector did not maintain an accounting program, using a double-entry system like that of a private company’s accounting department.

Specifically, guided by the presidential decree "PD 54/2018," which establishes the accounting framework governing entities of the general government, as defined by the registry of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), the book includes the following topics:
