can this product which is made out of canvas and is touching the glass really keep the temperature from dangerously rising during the summer and with zero water consumption for months?

I believe so. I have a double solar collector and I cover one half every summer. If I use both collectors the water reaches over 80 degrees Celsius. When I cover one collector, it reaches no more than 65-67 degrees. So, it is effective. I have been using it for 3 years now.
