Description

The book is a dive into the unknown history of the show "Here Lilipoupoli" (December 1977 - May 1980) through 51 interviews, unpublished lyrics by Marianina Kriezis that never became lilipoupolitical songs, 73 lost episodes identified by the author, and hundreds of documents: papers, manuscripts, scores, photographs, sounds, films, publications, etc.

The book follows step by step "the best children's show ever made for adults" through the corridors and studios of ERT, in the Enchanted Flute, in the mazes of power, in private and public discourse. It reveals the true stories behind beloved songs like "Rosa Rosalía," "Chrysali Furfur," and "We're Not Zulu." At the same time, it is a journey through the renaissance era of the Third Programme under Manos Hadjidakis (1975-1982), where some of the greatest hopes and illusions of the Metapolitefsi blossomed.

It was a time when artistic creation briefly flourished in the dales of Lilipoupoli, in Utopia. It redefines the imprint of the former radio miracle in collective memory. That’s why the unprecedented analysis of the 12+1 crises that marked the Hadjidakis Third has a reason for existence in a book "about Lilipoupoli"; because we know the myth but not its history.

Or the file of political beliefs of Hadjidakis, with two unknown photographs of the teenage Manos, in a parallel narrative with the "dossier" that the dreadful mayor Harchoudas kept on the Lilipoupolitans. "In the Time of Lilipoupoli" is the result of five years of research. It is not a children's book. It does not "nostalgize." It is a 350-page paper documentary for contemporary adults aged 18-70+. It reads like watching a well-crafted film.
