The Etymological Dictionary of Ancient Greek: History of Words by the renowned French linguist and philologist Pierre Chantraine is the Greek translation of the most authoritative and comprehensively updated etymological dictionary of Ancient Greek available worldwide today.

The Greek translation is accompanied by an extensive Appendix, which outlines in much greater detail than the French original the paths (survivals and revivals) of the Ancient Greek vocabulary up to Modern Greek. This effort, which had already been initiated by P. Chantraine, is now carried out more systematically and comprehensively than the author was able to do in his time, partly because we now have more and higher quality dictionaries of Modern Greek, and partly because the science of etymology of Modern Greek has now reached newer conclusions.
