The present "Gerontiko" - or "Sayings of the Holy Elders" - is defined as the "Alphabetical collection" because it contains the speeches of the holy abbots in alphabetical order, from Abba Anthony to Abba Hor.
These newly enlightened speeches, perhaps simple and unskilled, but with the manifest grace of the Holy Spirit, make a deep impression and have a great impact on all who read them with faith. Every reader of the "Gerontiko" realizes with a sense of soul that this is "food and delight" and derives much pleasure and - above all - much benefit from the sanctified words.

Volume I contains the "Gerontiko" translated into modern Greek in order to be accessible to the faithful people who love the holy Fathers.
