This product is amazing. It doesn't stick permanently, it just remains elastic and you can later disassemble the parts that came into contact if needed. I used it on a new fuel pump (gasoline) and a new fuel tank gasket. Because the fuel pump didn't seal well on the gasket, I applied a layer of this product with my finger, waited about a minute for the solvent to evaporate (the smell, that is), and then carefully submerged the pump into the tank to properly fit the pump both inside the reservoir and on the gasket. I then tightened the rotating tightening ring of the pump and that was it. No leaks, no smells, nothing. I also used it on the oil drain plug of the engine crankcase, which had a leak, and then I tightened the plug so that the wheel of the plug would sit properly on the lip and tightened it. In this case, the plug requires less tightening, so I saved myself any machining work.
