The aim is to contribute to the discussion currently taking place within the academic community regarding the nature and content of global political economy. This contribution is achieved both at the theoretical level, specifically through the illumination of the analytical framework of Enhanced Realism, and at the applied level, utilizing the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference as a case study that highlights the complexity of contemporary reality, as well as the conflicts and contradictions that characterize the global political and economic system.

More specifically, by studying the content of the book, the reader-researcher can: acquire basic knowledge about the main theoretical approaches in global political economy, examine and evaluate the proposed analytical framework of global political economy, that of Enhanced Realism, understand the political economy of the Copenhagen Conference, and draw conclusions about the new political economy of international relations.

The discussion for understanding and explaining the nature and prospects of global political economy is enriched under the perspective of the proposed framework for study and analysis, that of Enhanced Realism.
