The ILIAD and the ODYSSEY are the starting point of the Greek and European spirit; they are the oldest literary documents, the ancestors of poetic functioning on a global level. They are two very ancient poetic texts that maintain eternal youth and have been translated into almost all the languages of the world, read as few books in the world.

In their publication in these hefty volumes, there are introductions to Homer, a comprehensive summary of the Iliad and the Odyssey, translation in fifteen-syllable verses, comments, analysis, and material for didactic processing by rhapsodies, the work of our collaborator Theodoros G. Mavropoulos, and the original text of the two epics.

There are two thematic cores in the Iliad. The first is "menin," the anger of Achilles against Agamemnon, with all the painful consequences it causes. The second is the theme of the friendship between Achilles and Patroclus, which culminates in the former's revenge for the murder of the latter, killing his killer, the Trojan Hector, the most remarkable of all the "heroes" of this ten-year war.

Our edition has been sent to the libraries of all middle and high schools in the country, has enriched many private libraries, and now, enriched with the original text, makes its third journey in the broad space of book lovers within and outside the levels of our education, having received warm acknowledgments of its quality.
